Last Dance

Thank you for a wonderful season! We are all very proud of You!

Daily Star Write Up

Davenport 43, Andes 40

Down by two with 12 seconds left, Andes inbounded under Davenport's basket with a chance to tie or take the lead, but the Wildcats forced a held ball and the possession arrow pointed in their favor.

Brendan Chase then hit a free throw with about five seconds left to cap the scoring.

Andes had a final chance, but Eric Reed's desperation heave from about half-court was not close.

"Those kids, they play with a lot of enthusiasm," Davenport coach Lee Fisher said of Andes, which knocked off fifth-seeded Gilboa, 52-40, on Saturday and fourth-seeded Cherry Valley-Springfield, 45-37, on Monday. "They just didn't want their season to end. I was expecting a big shot coming from them. They were the No. 12 seed, but they didn't care and they said, We don't care what seed you are.'"

Andes' Eric Reed scored a game-high 18 points, one night after scoring 24 points in the win over CV-S.

"He can shoot and he's just a good all-around basketball player," Fisher said of Reed.

Reed hit a three-pointer late in the fourth quarter that brought Andes within a point.

Cody Ruff contributed 10 points for the Mountaineers, who lost, 49-38, to Davenport in their season-opener.

Mike Ontl had 15 points to lead the Wildcats, seven of those coming in the fourth quarter.

"Ontl took the ball to the hoop and did a great job," Fisher said of his senior guard.

Chase finished with nine points and 16 rebounds, and Robert Meyerhoff had nine points, including five in the fourth quarter.

Fisher said senior guard Buddy Adam suffered a cut to his chin late in the first half while attempting a layup. Adam, who finished with five points, played the second half but went to a hospital following the game.

On facing South Kortright for a third time, Fisher said: "We got them once and they got us once. Now we've got the one that's going to settle it. We know it's going to be a battle."
