The last of Amy Filupeit's five three-pointers tied the score at 54 with about two minutes left and Filupeit hit free throws with five seconds remaining to seal the host Blue Devils' Delaware League victory.

Filupeit (19 points) and Erica Faulkner (game-high 23 points) each made both ends of 1-and-1 free throw opportunities in the final minute for Margaretville. Faulkner also had 13 rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Danielle Hull contributed 10 points for for Margaretville (7-7. 4-6), which plays host to Roscoe on Monday.

Mariah Ruff (15 points), Rachel Andrews (14) and Karli Tait (12) scored in double figures for Andes.

James Litaker contributed 14 points and Peter Fabrykiewicz had 12 points for the Mountaineers, who led, 20-4, after one quarrter.

Mitch VanKeuren scored seven points for Margaretville (2-11, 1-9).

Josh Bonifacic contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for Andes (7-6, 5-6), which plays at Downsville on Tuesday.

Meyerhoff leads Davenport to road victory

Davenport senior Sam Meyerhoff had 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Wildcats to a 62-50 Delaware League girls basketball victory at Andes on Wednesday.

"She is a really, really tough player in the paint," Andes coach Glenn Reynolds said of Meyerhoff, the area's leading scorer.

Meyerhoff, who went 12-for-17 from the free throw line, had all but eight of her points in the second half. It marks the sixth time this season she's scored at least 30 points.

Andes stayed close through three quarters as senior forward Rachel Andrews had 25 points and 11 rebounds.

"To play with them at that level, we're pleased," said Reynolds, whose team trailed, 42-35, heading into the final quarter.

Reynolds added that Davenport's defense played a big role. The Wildcats' Jackie Gilley had six steals, to go along with eight points and seven assists.

"They really defended us," Reynolds said.

Brittany Chase had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats (11-2), who received 12 points from Katie Brown.

Eighth-grader Mariah Ruff contributed 13 points for the Mountaineers (6-6), who travel to Margaretville on Friday.

{"DS | Body text"/}Area scoring leader Tyler Dibble had 20 points and Stephen Schmitt scored a season-high 19 Tuesday to lead Jefferson to a 59-41 boys basketball victory over visiting Andes in the Delaware League.

Dibble finished three points shy of his season-scoring average and tied the Mountaineers' Eric Reed for game-high scoring honors. Schmitt hit a season-best five three-pointers for the J-Hawks (5-7, 4-6), who took a 39-19 lead into the final quarter.

"I don't know what got into him," Jefferson coach Joe Henry said of Schmitt, who averaged 5.2 points over his first 10 games and scored in double digits once. "Whatever it is, I hope he keeps it."

Jacob Pasa contributed nine points and nine rebounds for Jefferson, which plays hosts to Hunter-Tannersville on Thursday.

Reed hit a game-high seven baskets _ including three threes _ for Andes, which got nine points from Josh Bonifacic.

Rashawn Herrington scored 17 points to lead four Rams in double-figures as host South Kortright cruised in the Delaware League.

The Rams (11-1, 9-1) have won four straight since having their 33-game winning streak snapped by Davenport, 55-52, on Jan. 6.

"I've been pleased, we've been progressing each game," said SK's Bob VanValkenbugh, who coached the Rams to a 26-0 record and a Class D state championship last season. "I hope we can keep progressing. I'm pleased with the way we've been playing."

Tanner Metzko scored all but four of his 15 points and Herrington had 10 in the first half as SK took a 32-14 lead. Brandon Tuttle (13 points) and Charlie Darling (10) also scored in double figures.

James Litaker had 11 points to lead the Mountaineers.

The Rams play host to Stamford on Friday.
