Jefferson boys ride threes to victory

{"DS | Body text"/}Area scoring leader Tyler Dibble had 20 points and Stephen Schmitt scored a season-high 19 Tuesday to lead Jefferson to a 59-41 boys basketball victory over visiting Andes in the Delaware League.

Dibble finished three points shy of his season-scoring average and tied the Mountaineers' Eric Reed for game-high scoring honors. Schmitt hit a season-best five three-pointers for the J-Hawks (5-7, 4-6), who took a 39-19 lead into the final quarter.

"I don't know what got into him," Jefferson coach Joe Henry said of Schmitt, who averaged 5.2 points over his first 10 games and scored in double digits once. "Whatever it is, I hope he keeps it."

Jacob Pasa contributed nine points and nine rebounds for Jefferson, which plays hosts to Hunter-Tannersville on Thursday.

Reed hit a game-high seven baskets _ including three threes _ for Andes, which got nine points from Josh Bonifacic.
